Shocking: Red Bull admits Daniel Ricciardo lagging behind ‘mature’ teammate as grip slips on promotion hopes

Both Ricciardo and Tsunoda are optimistic that they will be approved to join Red Bull in 2025.

That depends, in part, on Sergio Perez’s performance this year; the Mexican under pressure must finish second in the championship.

Starting in the eighteenth position, Ricciardo has not yet warned Tsunoda or Perez.

To far in 2024, Tsunoda has defeated Ricciardo twice in the races and three times in qualifying.

Regarding Ricciardo, Marko remarked, “He’s struggling.”

“We’ll see. Although the Bahrain test showed some encouraging indicators, the last few races haven’t gone as planned.

Ricciardo, in my opinion, needs a secure and assured vehicle. In order for him to at least catch up to Yuki, I’m hoping the team can offer him that.

The Perth product acknowledged that he is still looking for more speed, but he doesn’t think Tsunoda is a better fit for the car overall.“I definitely believe I can do it,” he replied.

Now, it’s most likely a two-step procedure. I can clearly be seen looking through the data and analyzing even the driving method; why am I doing this? Is it a result of my emotions? I then try to react to that or tie it to the data, explain my actions to the developers, and follow up with inquiries. Why does it make me feel this way? I’m asking them a lot of questions, and I’m also asking myself a lot of questions.

There isn’t any panic, in my opinion. Though I wish the season had gotten off to a better start, we’ll just keep exploring.

“The automobile is an upgrade, but its features remain mostly unchanged from the previous year.

“I believe there is some trust in that. It’s not like everything has changed and this car suddenly fits Yuki while it doesn’t fit me. In my opinion, it’s nothing like that.

We’ll find something, I’m sure of it. I had assumed it would happen this weekend, but it might happen next. If not, we’ll keep trying until it does. It is going to occur.”

The Japanese Grand Prix will be held at the Suzuka Circuit from April 5–7 in Formula 1.
