Jimmy Butler coming to Philadelphia is a reunion that every 76ers fan would love to witness, and the ownership group is apparently eager to make that happen.

Five seasons ago, Butler was transferred to Miami, his chosen destination, after the Sixers failed to offer him a full max contract.

However, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer claims that the 76ers can now recognize what a huge error that was.

Speaking with my sources, Pompey stated on Locked On 76ers, “They kind of regret what they did five years ago [in trading Jimmy Butler] and they see the success that he’s had.””

And they see that he might be the missing piece in their eyes, and they’re willing to give him the money he wants.” Money sounds like it will be the key for Butler this offseason, given he is reportedly determined to nab a max agreement.

Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald claims, “Jimmy Butler wants a max extension this offseason, preferably from the Heat.” “But he wants a max extension, from the Heat or another team.”

Jimmy is guaranteed $48.8 million for the upcoming campaign, while he has a player option worth $52.2 million for the 2025–2026 campaign. It is reported that he is requesting a maximum two-year extension for $113 million.

Heat team president Pat Riley recently commented about Butler’s deal and seems reluctant to commit to it at this stage. “That is not required of us for a year. So as of right now, we haven’t talked about that internally,” Riley stated on May 6.

However, we must consider that, deciding when to make that kind of commitment. In actuality, we are exempt from doing it until 2025. However, we’ll see.
