Landry Nguémo, a former midfield player for Celtic, passed away in a Cameroonian car accident at the age of 38.

In 2010, he spent a single season on loan at the Glasgow club, where he made over forty-three appearances and helped them finish second behind Rangers.

Nguémo left Celtic to play for Bordeaux and Saint-Etienne after earning 40 senior caps for Cameroon. Nguemo rejoined the French club Nancy after retirement to serve as the under-16 team’s coach.

“Everyone at Celtic Football Club is shocked and saddened at the news of Landry Nguemo’s passing at the young age of 38,” the team said in a statement.

In the summer of 2009, the Cameroonian midfielder went on loan to Celtic from Nancy, a French team. When he returned to his parent club in 2010, he had played for the Celtics for more than 43 games. During his career, he was also capped more than 40 times for Cameroon.
