According to reports, Celtic was watching former RKC Waalwijk goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen in an attempt to replace Joe Hart after his retirement, but Dutch teams were putting up a fight.

Following the expiration of his contract with RKC Waalwijk, Vaessen became a free agent. Several Eredivisie teams expressed interest in the 28-year-old, notably Willem II and NAC Breda, who have already made bids to him.

Vaessen is eager to join a team where he can play goalkeeping as the undisputed first choice.

Vaessen was reportedly sighted in the stands of Breda’s home stadium, the Rat Verlegh Stadium, during the playoffs, which sparked rumors regarding his potential future move, according to Voetbal International.

It has been reported that he has held informal talks with other clubs, suggesting that he may soon relocate to the Netherlands.

According to sources, Sparta Prague ‘keeper Peter Vindahl Jensen is the number one target for the champions; however, other rumors have linked Celtic to a deal for Newcastle ‘keeper Martin Dubravka.
