Tom Brady’s niece Maya saw her college softball career end in heartbreak as UCLA were eliminated by Stanford in the WCWS final elimination game

Maya Brady, niece of Tom Brady, endured heartbreak in her final college softball game after UCLA were beaten by Stanford.

The UCLA Bruins star, 23, has continued the legacy of her famous surname, but she missed out on the perfect ending to her Women’s College World Series career after they were beaten 3-1 by Stanford Cardinal in the final elimination game.

Maya has shone for UCLA since making her collegiate debut back in 2020 and she quickly made a name for herself when she was named Pac-12 Freshman and Player of the Week in February of the same year. But her time with UCLA wasn’t to have the perfect ending in the weather-delayed elimination Sunday in Oklahoma City.

The final Pac-12 softball game got off to the perfect start for the Bruins when right fielder Megan Grant dispatched Stanford pitching ace NiJaree Canady over the left field fence for a lead-off solo home run at the top of the second.

But the 2024 National Player of the Year grew stronger throughout the game as the Bruins failed to score again. The third innings saw the game turn on its head as Taryn Kern tied the score up with a double off the wall in left-center. She was then brought around to score herself two batters later when Ava Gall singled into right field.
