Ever since the Miami Heat were defeated by the Boston Celtics in the opening round of the 2024 NBA playoffs, Jimmy Butler’s future with the franchise has been discussed. Butler’s availability and desire for the longest possible contract extension have led to concern.
When Heat president Pat Riley criticized Butler during his press conference at the end of the season, this only became worse. Riley, however, stated that Miami has no intention of trading the 34-year-old star player who has helped the NBA team reach the Finals twice in the last five years.
Butler discussed his basketball future with the Heat and outside of the NBA with Rohan Nadkarni of GQ Sports. Riley’s remarks came before Butler’s, but Butler’s remarks were noteworthy since they showed his dedication to winning a championship for Miami
The Heat forward was questioned about whether he intended for his Miami Heat jersey—number 22—to be his final NBA uniform. Butler’s feelings are still the same as they were last year.
