According to a rumor, Tottenham is prepared to return forgotten winger Bryan Gil to his previous team for a small portion of the price they paid.

In 2021, Erik Lamela left Sevilla for Spurs in exchange for Gil in a player-plus cash deal. Although there were immediate concerns about Gil’s ability to handle the physical demands of English football, he is not without technical skill and cunning.

Even at 23, the little Spaniard has yet to have much of an effect in north London.

Gil has, in fact, been loaned back to Spain twice: once in 2022 and once in 2023 through Valencia.

Gil has only played 221 minutes in 11 appearances for the current campaign, but he was still included in Ange Postecoglou’s squad.

Furthermore, considering that the winger hasn’t featured for Tottenham in more than two months, it seems as though the writing is already on the wall for his future under Postecoglou.

Gil could make a permanent transfer back to Sevilla this summer, according to the Spanish publication Vamos Mi Sevilla FC.

Sport Witness reports that Gil is growing disenchanted with his time at Tottenham due to his persistent lack of opportunities.

According to the Spanish newspaper Vamos Mi Sevilla FC, Gil may return to Sevilla permanently this summer.

Sport Witness claims that Gil’s repeated lack of opportunities has led him to become increasingly disillusioned with his time at Tottenham.

Sevilla may give Gil a respite, and the team’s sporting director, Victor Orta, is assessing young wingers who may be available for knock-down fees.

Though the enormity of the price they believe Tottenham would be willing to sell for would raise eyebrows, several of the report’s assertions actually make perfect sense.

Spurs ‘would be happy to let him leave,’ according to reports, for the pitiful sum of just €6 million, or £5.15 million.

That would imply that Spurs would suffer a significant loss on a player that they only paid £21.4 million for three years ago, and that sum does not account for the potential gain if Lamela decides to go.
