Analyst: Tottenham needs to figure out how to defeat “phenomenal” Aston Villa.
We are pleased to announce John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as an exclusive columnist for Tottenham News. He will offer his professional analysis on the most talked-about topics at Spurs every week.
John Wenham believes Tottenham cannot afford to lose on Sunday, November 26 against Unai Emery’s “phenomenal” Aston Villa club.
Spurs had a great start to the season, going through their first 10 games without losing, but they have already lost two straight.
Injuries to James Maddison and Micky van de Ven look set to derail Spurs’ season and Ange Postecoglou’s incredible start to life in England.
Wenham feels that the game against Villa on Sunday is a must-win given the difficult schedule that lies ahead, and he is happy that the game will take place in North London because of the Midlands club’s undefeated home record thus far.
“I know Aston Villa are getting a lot of praise from a lot of people at the moment but when they’ve gone to the big away games this season, they have lost – and lost heavily – so that should give Tottenham some confidence,” said Wenham, in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News.
“I’m glad this game is being played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium because of their incredible home form, where they have been grinding out a lot of victories at Villa Park.
Spurs will want to make up for their humiliating home loss to them from the previous season, but it will undoubtedly be a difficult match.
With a trip to Manchester City coming up, Tottenham needs to go back to winning ways quickly. We can’t afford to lose four games in a row.
“We have to win this game on Sunday in order to maintain our winning streak and go closer to a top-four finish.”
