In an exciting London derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Tottenham defeated 10-man West Ham 4-1 behind a brilliant second-half display led by Son Heung-Min.

The home team had the better of the first half until Mohammed Kudus converted Jarrod Bowen’s cut back on minute eighteen.

Tottenham kept attacking, and Dejan Kulusevski’s effort struck both posts before going over the line to give Tottenham a well-deserved equaliser just before halftime.

After the break, Ange Postecoglou’s team really got going, scoring two goals in five minutes thanks to goals from Yves Bissouma and Jean-Clair Todibo’s own goal.

On the hour, Son made his debut appearance after missing three games due to a hamstring injury, and he finished with a strong run. This put the game beyond the visitors.

Late in the game, Kudus’ involvement in an unpleasant incident involving both sets of players earned him a straight red card, adding to West Ham’s suffering after VAR had requested an on-field review.

This was Ange Postecoglou’s ideal cure after he had been brooding over the Brighton collapse for the previous two weeks.

Not just three valuable points in a London derby, but a win that addressed concerns about spirit and character after coming back from behind in a fast turnaround brought on by a risky change.

Pape Matar Sarr replaced James Maddison in the half, when the scores were tied 1-1, and Postecoglou improved the balance in Tottenham’s midfield.

Dejan Kulusevski led his team from midfield as they scored three goals in eight minutes, one each from Yves Bissouma and Heung-min Son, and one through an own goal by the unfortunate Jean-Clair Todibo.

To Julen Lopetegui’s dismay, West Ham disintegrated this time, finishing with just 10 players when Mohammed Kudus was sent off for elbowing Micky van de Ven in the face during a late altercation.

With the remainder of the weekend’s play still to come, the outcome moves Tottenham up to sixth place, five points outside the top.

In 14th place, West Ham is five points further behind.

Tottenham’s next match is against AZ in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, and then they go to Crystal Palace on Sunday. Manchester United is at home against West Ham.

The visitors will be eager to finish this game without giving up any more goals because they have been soundly defeated today.

At the end of the game, it was recorded that Mohammed Kudus of westHam United was issues a red card for a violent conduct. Micky van de Ven of Tottenham was issued a yellow card

SPORTS EXPERTS REACTING TO THE GREAT TOTTENHAM WIN
GLENN HODDLE: “They played like they did in the first half against Brighton. It was only one half where they let themselves down. At the end of the day they needed a result and it’s a very positive one. They were on the front foot. Kulusevksi was outsanding, the best game I’ve seen him play in a Tottenham shirt.”
PETER CROUCH: “They were brilliant second half. West Ham were disappointing, defensively they were all
    over the shop.”
