At Portman Road, Bournemouth overcame a deficit to defeat Ipswich in a thrilling match thanks to two late goals.

Conor Chaplin’s goal in the first half put Ipswich on course for their first Premier League victory at home since 2002 as the clock struck the 87th minute.

But owing to the efforts of two players who came off the bench, Bournemouth, who came on strong in the second half, refused to give up and crushed the hearts of the home team.

Enes Unal scrambled the ball across the line from close range to give the Cherries the equaliser.

When Ipswich was unable to clear their lines in the sixth minute of extra time, his fellow replacement Dango Ouattara then scored the game-winning goal.

Ipswich had their greatest chances in the first half when Cameron Burgess headed the ball onto the roof of the net and Chaplin calmly scored the first goal, his first Premier League goal.

Marcus Tavernier of Bournemouth missed two of their first opportunities after missing a yard out and hitting the post.

After the interval, the visitors came out determined, but they once again fell short until the thrilling conclusion, when Lewis Cook, Antoine Semenyo, Evanilson, and Justin Kluivert were unable to score with sufficient accuracy.

Before Unal beat Burgess to the ball at the far post for the equaliser, it appeared as though Ipswich would hold on for all three points.

Ipswich’s heads appeared to fall, and Bournemouth went all out, even though a point was still up for grabs.

David Brooks’ shot was parried into Ouattara’s path, and he completed a beautiful passing move.

Ipswich is still in 18th place and four points outside of safety, while Bournemouth is up to eighth place and only three points behind fourth-place Manchester City.

On November 10, Ipswich defeated Tottenham in the Premier League for the first time this season, although the promoted team is yet to win three games at home.

Bournemouth’s visit, as they were playing for the third time in nine days, was a fantastic chance to accomplish that.

With two more days to prepare for this match, Ipswich looked considerably more rested from the start and penned Bournemouth back.

Sammie Szmodics nearly doubled their lead in the second half, and Chaplin’s brilliantly placed opening goal lifted emotions on a soggy afternoon, but beyond from those moments, Bournemouth keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga was seldom put to the test.

Ipswich’s flimsy defence, which has already given up 27 goals, was once again shown in the closing minutes when Bournemouth committed bodies forward, disregarding discipline.

With plenty of back to cope with deliveries into the box, both of Bournemouth’s goals were preventable, but Ipswich fell short.

After two seasons of consistently winning both League One and the Championship, Ipswich is now in a completely different position as they struggle at the bottom of the Premier League.

For promoted teams, maintaining home form is frequently crucial to avoiding relegation, and Ipswich hasn’t figured it out at Portman Road yet.

    Cherries continue to grow.

It was unexpected that Andoni Iraola made just one change to his starting lineup because Bournemouth needed to bounce back quickly following their 1-0 victory over Tottenham on Thursday.

At first, the choice seemed to backfire because Bournemouth, who are famed for their great energy and pressing, struggled to adhere to their manager’s philosophy throughout the whole of the first half.

As Ipswich appeared to be in charge, the Cherries had opportunities, but Tavernier’s strike off the post was the only one that seriously threatened Arijanet Muric’s goal.

The visitors came storming out of the traps for the second quarter, demonstrating that whatever Iraola said at halftime had an effect.

While Ipswich sat deep and attempted to defend their advantage, Kluivert, Evanilson, Cook, and Semenyo all took a gamble.

Prior to Iraola switching to his bench and Unal and Ouattara turning the tide of the match, Bournemouth appeared to be losing patience.

The south coast team’s third straight top flight victory has moved them up the ladder once more and raises the possibility that they could contend for a spot in Europe.

They have also won back-to-back away games for the first time since a four-game winning streak in November and December of previous year. Bournemouth’s next away trip is against Manchester United on December 22.
