PreviousIn a horrific vehicle accident, 38-year-old Celtic midfielder Landry N’Guemo passed away.
According to reports, the former international player for Cameroon passed away after a tragic accident in his native country.
During his ten-month tenure as Hoops manager, Tony Mowbray recruited anchorman N’Guemo on a loan from AS Nancy.
The player came in July 2009, leaving in May of the following year to rejoin his French club. One night on March 24, 2010, a day before Mowbray was fired, N’Guemo was a member of the Hoops team that was humiliated 4-0 in Paisley by St Mirren.
Neil Lennon replaced the fired Mowbray in a caretaker role and continued to have faith in the loanee; N’Guemo turned out 34 times in the domestic trophies but failed to score a goal.
After returning to his parent club, N’Guemo also had a lengthy period at Bordeaux before a short stint at Saint-Etienne. His highlight was an excellent display in the team’s 2-0 victory over Dynamo Moscow in a Champions League qualifier in the Russian capital.
Unfortunately, it was all downhill from there as Celtic stammered through a series of unconvincing performances where N’Guemo could not rise above the mediocrity of his teammates. He later moved to play in Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Norway before retiring four years ago.
