According to the most recent sources, Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl has expanded his backroom staff by bringing in German player Niklas Lanwehr.

Since replacing Xisco Munoz at Hillsborough in October, Rohl has created a stir. The Owls were stuck at the bottom of the Championship when he got to South Yorkshire, and it didn’t seem possible for them to pull off a remarkable comeback with a rookie head coach.

Yet, by the end of the campaign, the 34-year-old had managed to steer the ship to safety following a three-game winning streak to close out the season against Sunderland, West Bromwich Albion and Blackburn Rovers. In the end, Rohl’s men finished three points above safety – the miracle was complete.

To prevent a recurrence of the intense relegation scrap from the previous season, efforts are under underway to fortify the first-team roster. Even though the transfer window has only been open for slightly more than two weeks, Sheffield Wednesday hasn’t been playing around and has already signed Ben Hamer, Svante Ingelsson, and Max Lowe on free transfers. Former Southampton fullback Yan Valery has also moved to Hillsborough from French team Angers for an undisclosed fee.
