Paul George scores 23 points in his 76ers preseason debut.

shots during a 121-111 loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves. In addition to his four 3-pointers, George finished with 26 minutes played, six rebounds, and two assists. Along with players like Chris Paul in San Antonio, DeMar DeRozan in Sacramento, Karl-Anthony Towns in fresh York, and Klay Thompson in Dallas, his exhibition debut extended the run of fresh faces in different locations during this preseason.

The 76ers are George’s fourth franchise; he spent seven years with Indiana, two with Oklahoma City, and the final five with the Los Angeles Clippers. George signed a four-year, $212 million contract with the 76ers this summer as a free agency. In his first 14 NBA seasons, he averaged 20.8 points per game and was selected as an All-Star nine times and as an All-NBA player six times.

Coach of the 76ers Nick Nurse was making his way home for the game in Iowa. He is from Iowa, was the head coach of Grand View University, a Des Moines, an NAIA member, and coached Minnesota’s G League team when it was still Iowa. When Nurse took the position at age 23, he was the youngest college coach in the nation.
