It’s possible that Edson Alvarez, a midfielder for West Ham United, unintentionally encouraged more rumors by trying to allay those regarding a possible transfer to Manchester United.

Despite Manchester United’s interest, Alvarez said that his only focus is on Mexico’s Copa America campaign, however he did not completely rule out a possible move to Old Trafford.

At Ajax, Alvarez flourished under Erik ten Hag, winning two Dutch crowns prior to joining the Premier League.

Alvarez replaced Declan Rice at West Ham United last summer after Rice’s transfer to Arsenal, having seen a move to Chelsea collapse in 2022.

Alvarez performed admirably in his debut season in England, and now that Man Utd’s summer transfer schedule has been made public, they intend to bring him to Old Trafford to take Casemiro’s spot.

Alvarez is focusing more on Mexico’s approaching campaign than his club future for the time being, though.

“I can only tell you that I’m focused on what I have to do. I know that the Copa America is a very big competition where the eyes of the world are basically here,” Alvarez said ahead of Mexico’s game against Jamaica on today.

“There will be time later to determine what exists or does not exist.”

Since the player has previously demonstrated that he is more than eager to press for a move if there is interest elsewhere, this is really the last thing West Ham need right now.
