The governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, asserts that while his administration is working hard to eradicate banditry from the state, God ultimately decides what happens to the people.
Lawal claimed that security personnel have patrolled the area in recent days, particularly after multiple terrorist leaders were killed within his territory.
Following private discussions with Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, the governor informed State House Correspondents.”We are making every effort to ensure the safety of our people’s lives and belongings. We’re trying our hardest, but God has the final say,” he remarked.
His remarks come just hours after on Thursday morning, armed robbers in Zamfara killed a police officer and abducted other passengers, including some employees of a construction company.
The event happened when the heavily armed bandits fired at passing cars while blocking the notoriously busy Tsafe-Funtua road for several hours.
Because of bandits who commit large kidnappings, massacres, cattle rustling, and village raids, Zamfara, in North West Nigeria, has been experiencing serious security issues.
