F1 News: FIA Issues Verdict on Hamilton-Sainz Incident After….readmore

The FIA has delivered its official ruling on the incident involving Lewis Hamilton and Carlos Sainz during the 2025 Miami Grand Prix, following an in-depth review by race stewards. The decision comes after a contentious on-track moment raised questions about driving standards and prompted heated exchanges behind the scenes.

The incident in question occurred during the race when Carlos Sainz attempted an aggressive move, leading to contact with another car. While initial reports focused on Hamilton’s positioning in the chaos, it was ultimately Sainz who bore the brunt of the penalty. The FIA stewards concluded that the Ferrari driver was primarily at fault, citing his late braking and failure to control the rear of his car, which led to a collision with McLaren’s Oscar Piastri. As a result, Sainz was handed a five-second time penalty and one penalty point on his super license. This post-race punishment caused Sainz to drop from fourth to fifth in the final classification.

Though Lewis Hamilton was not penalized directly, the incident sparked intense conversations between team bosses, including Mercedes and Ferrari leadership, with emotions running high. During the race, Hamilton also made headlines for a sarcastic radio message aimed at Ferrari’s pit wall strategy, saying, “Might as well take a tea break,” in response to delayed team orders. This remark added fuel to an already fiery atmosphere in the paddock and highlighted growing frustrations among drivers over race management decisions.

Hamilton ultimately finished eighth, a result that did little to satisfy his competitive ambitions. Meanwhile, his relationship with team leadership appeared strained, and internal communications became a focal point in the post-race debriefs. Ferrari’s team principal Fred Vasseur acknowledged the tension and emphasized the need for clearer, quicker strategic calls in future races.

Despite the controversy, the Miami Grand Prix also featured a strong performance from McLaren, with Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris securing a one-two finish, a landmark result for the team. The high-speed street circuit provided no shortage of drama, from mid-race collisions to last-minute penalties, reminding fans of the unpredictable and thrilling nature of Formula 1.

In summary, the FIA’s penalty decision, team rivalries, and Hamilton’s outspoken response have made the Miami GP one of the most talked-about races of the season so far.
