Marina Mabrey led the Sky (4–9) with 22 points. Two weeks after drawing criticism for a harsh shoulder check that pushed Clark to the ground during an inbound play, Chennedy Carter scored eighteen points and four assists. Afterwards, the call was increased to a flagrant-1 by league officials.

Throughout the game, there were a number of heated moments. In the first half, Dana Evans hooked Clark, which led to Clark slapping Evans’ arm. In the third quarter, Reese struck a driving Clark in the head with her right arm.

Following review, the call was upgraded to a flagrant-1. Every time one of Carter or Reese drew a foul, the crowd applauded. When Reese was called for No. 5, she almost lost her cool.

When Reese threw the ball back and carried on arguing as she walked up the court, the referees called a delay of game. But it was another close race on the floor.

Indiana finished the first half on a 12-6 surge, taking a 47-43 lead. Then, to start the second half, Marina Mabrey scored eight points in a 12–4 run that put the Sky ahead 55–51.

Midway through the third quarter, Clark’s 3-pointer gave the Fever a 58-57 lead. From that moment on, they never looked back. They jumped up to a 68-64 lead before Chicago made the game’s last shot.

Indiana completed a sequence that included two free throws from Clark, Boston’s short jumper, Smith’s layup, and Clark’s second 3-pointer of the game in the last 3:06 to win the victory.
