Jakarta’s TEMPO.CO Particles energised by the Sun strike the Earth’s magnetic environment and shine, producing the enigmatic Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis.

As a result, a colourful display of blues, greens, purples, pinks, yellows, and reds is produced.

The spectacular display of this celestial extravaganza can be seen as far south as the Baltic States and southeast England, while traditionally the light show has been known to occur in the northern hemisphere.

Let’s examine the top locations in Europe for seeing the Northern Lights, as recommended by Nordic Visitor and National Geographic.

    1. Norway’s Tromsø
Because Tromsø, Norway, is situated in an area of the sun that is active and offers a striking backdrop for the Northern Lights, it is a favourite destination for aurora fans.

Between September and mid-April, when the clouds have cleared, its gorgeous mountains and fjords offer a wonderful accent to the dancing lights.

    2. Norway’s Svalbard
Svalbard, which is a part of the Arctic Circle, is a well-liked spot for astronomy aficionados, particularly those who want to see the Northern Lights.

Svalbard is the only location on Earth where the “daytime aurora borealis” appears magnificently during the darkest period of the year, which occurs between December and January, and is home to a few worldwide aurora borealis research sites.

    3. Swedish Lapland’s Abisko
Abisko, which is home to the Aurora Sky Station, is deserving of its place as the top Northern Lights viewing location in the world.

Because there aren’t many distracting light or sound sources, Aurora viewers can fully enjoy the breathtaking scene and get the most out of their experience.

    4. Greenland’s Ilulissat
The Ilulissat Icefjord, which offers one of the most breathtaking views of the Northern Lights, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004.

Locals celebrate the unusual occurrence twice a day, between 8 p.m. and midnight, during the New Year’s celebrations. To avoid the crowds, those who would rather have a more sedate experience can want to come in September.

    5. Denmark’s Faroe Islands
The Faroe Islands, which are dispersed among an amazing array of beaches, are not your typical tropical paradise.

Famous islands like Suðuroy and Sandoy experience harsh winter evenings from November to February, which makes them ideal destinations for Aurora Borealis vacations and improves hotel availability.

    6. Scotland’s Shetland Islands
Because of its remote location and low levels of light pollution, Shetland, in the northern section of the United Kingdom, offers the best aurora watching opportunities.

A few times a year, between October and March, the Northern Lights, known locally as the Mirrie Dancers, put on a stunning show.

    7. Lapland and Rovaniemi
Visitors to Rovaniemi may enjoy the Northern Lights show every year, which is visible for roughly 150 evenings between September and October.

The Arktikum Museum, one of the greatest places to watch the astral phenomena, is ten minutes’ walk from the city centre to the Arctic Garden.

    8. Iceland’s Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon
The picturesque setting of tall icebergs and little light pollution makes for an amazing background for any auroral photo ever taken.

Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, sometimes known as “The Crown Jewel of Iceland,” provides peace and quiet in pristine surroundings.

    What to expect

Conclusively, The excitement of seeing these heavenly lights dance across the sky is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, regardless of your level of experience hunting auroras. Thus, pick only the top locations to witness the Northern Lights.
