Detroit Lions player teams up with local anti-violence groups to spread holiday cheer and give back to the community.Detroit Lions player joins forces with local violence prevention groups to give back to the community this Christmas. The groups, including Detroit Friends and Family, Force Detroit, and 55th Foundation, are hosting toy giveaway events to support local families. Their efforts have already shown positive results, with up to an 83% reduction in gun violence in some areas.

 

Detroit Friends and Family is teaming up with rapper Icewear Vezzo and Detroit Lions player Za’Darius Smith for a Christmas Toy Giveaway on Dec. 23. The event will also feature a car giveaway to a family in need, with attendees able to enter the raffle by submitting a video explaining why they need the car.

 

Local Community Violence Intervention (CVI) groups in Detroit are making a significant impact by providing support and resources to residents in neglected areas. Their proactive approach has led to a remarkable 83% reduction in gun violence in some areas. By mediating conflicts and guiding young people towards positive pursuits, these groups are helping to prevent crime and promote peace.

The CVI groups view their holiday events as a way to show appreciation and give back to the communities they support.
