Confirmed:BLACKPINK’s Rosé waves the chequered flag at Miami GP: Which other celebrities have… read more

BLACKPINK’s Rosé made a standout appearance at the recent Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, where she was given the honor of waving the iconic chequered flag. She did so as Australian driver Oscar Piastri crossed the finish line, sealing his third consecutive race victory and marking his fourth overall win of the current Formula 1 season. Piastri, who currently leads the championship standings, continued to build momentum with another strong performance on the track.

Rosé’s involvement in the event highlights the growing crossover between pop culture and Formula 1. Her presence also coincides with rising excitement surrounding the upcoming F1-themed film starring Brad Pitt, which is set for a theatrical release on June 25, 2025. This movie is expected to bring further mainstream attention to the sport, as it will feature a mix of Hollywood storytelling and real Formula 1 race footage. Adding to her involvement in F1, Rosé is also featured on the official soundtrack album for the film, “F1: The Album.” She contributes an original track titled “Messy,” which was announced just days before the Miami race.

Rosé now joins a growing list of celebrities who have had the opportunity to wave the chequered flag at high-profile Formula 1 events. In recent years, figures from the world of music, film, and sports have been invited to participate in the ceremonial waving of the flag, which traditionally signifies the end of a race. The chequered flag is a central symbol in Formula 1 and is instantly recognizable thanks to its black-and-white check pattern. When this flag is waved, it means the session—whether it’s a practice run, qualifying, or the race itself—is officially over. For drivers, crossing under the chequered flag is a symbol of completion and, for the leader, it means victory.

Formula 1 uses a range of other flags during races to communicate crucial information to drivers on the track. For instance, the green flag indicates that the track is clear and the session can proceed without incident. A yellow flag is a signal for caution, typically due to an accident or hazard ahead, prompting drivers to slow down. If a red flag is shown, it means the race is being stopped entirely due to a severe issue such as an accident or poor track conditions.

Other important flags include the blue flag, which tells a slower driver that a faster car is approaching and they must yield. The black flag is more serious, indicating that a driver has violated rules and must either return to the pit lane or is disqualified. A white flag warns drivers of a slow-moving vehicle ahead, while a yellow flag with red stripes signifies a slippery surface, possibly due to oil or debris.

Rosé’s appearance at the Miami GP not only added a touch of star power to the event but also showcased the growing global influence of Formula 1.
