Red Bull has since clarified the reason for Verstappen’s delay, announcing that the Dutchman is awaiting the birth of his first child. The team released an official statement to the media, including RacingNews365, stating: “Hi all, please note that Max will not be attending media day in Miami as he is expecting a baby. All is well and he will attend track tomorrow for the race weekend. We will not be offering any further comment at this time in respect towards the privacy of Max and his family.”
Verstappen’s partner, Kelly Piquet, is currently expecting her second child, after previously giving birth to her daughter Penelope.
