BREAKING:George Russell Health Update After Miami… read more

Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team has provided a reassuring update on George Russell’s condition following concerns that emerged after the Miami Grand Prix. The British driver secured a well-earned third-place finish at the Miami International Autodrome, marking his fourth podium in the first six races of the 2025 Formula One season. However, post-race events raised some alarms as Russell was absent from immediate media duties and was instead taken to the trackside medical centre for evaluation.

The 27-year-old explained the situation after the race, revealing he experienced sudden health issues towards the end of the Grand Prix. Despite delivering a strong performance on the track, he admitted to feeling extremely unwell shortly after crossing the finish line. “I felt like I did a really strong race today,” Russell said, “but I’m feeling really sick now actually. The last 10 laps of the race, I got a really bad stomach cramp and now I’m struggling to stand because my stomach is a bit upset – but I’m happy with P3.”

In the days following the Miami event, Mercedes moved to allay any ongoing concerns about Russell’s health. The team confirmed that he has made a full recovery and is back to full fitness. Mercedes technical director James Allison offered insights into the likely causes behind Russell’s sudden discomfort. He noted that the physical demands of the Miami circuit, coupled with the characteristics of the current generation of Formula One cars, created challenging conditions for the drivers.

According to Allison, the Miami track is both hot and physically punishing, which takes a toll on the drivers, especially in longer stints. He explained that these new-generation cars are designed to run very close to the ground to maximize performance, requiring the use of stiffer suspension setups. “That means putting stiff springs on. That tends to mean that they bucket around a bit,” he said. The result is a rough and bumpy ride, especially on a hot, high-speed circuit like Miami.

He emphasized that the combination of intense G-forces, heat, and continuous vertical motion during the race likely contributed to Russell’s stomach discomfort and general fatigue. Despite the evident strain, Allison reassured fans that Russell recovered quickly after the race. “He’s absolutely fine,” he stated, adding that within just a few hours of rest and medical evaluation, the British driver was back to normal.

Russell’s resilience and strong performance under difficult conditions highlight both his physical endurance and mental determination. With the next race at Imola fast approaching, Mercedes will be looking to build on their current momentum and ensure their drivers are in peak condition. Russell, now fully recovered, will be aiming for continued success in the upcoming rounds of the championship.
