NRL: Warriors brace for emotional home farewell to club legend Shaun Johnson With a third straight loss leaving their playoff dreams in tatters, NZ Warriors return home this week to prepare for Shaun Johnson’s final appearance at Go Media Stadium Mt Smart against Canterbury Bulldogs. The Auckland side were still in the contest, level 10-10 at halftime against Manly Sea Eagles, but let another one slip away 24-10 in a campaign that promises so much and has delivered little on the field. Five points outside the top eight, coach Andrew Webster had hoped to sweep their last three games (plus…
Why Tennessee’s deal with QB Nico Iamaleava no longer so great for the Vols There’s only one reason that Tennessee football players are flocking to the transfer portal like moths to a flame. And there’s only one player that has led to all of this. Freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava. Now, before you start blaming Iamaleava, don’t. It’s not his fault he asked for, was offered and will receive a reported $8-million for four years at Tennessee, although that number may be slightly inflated. Nevertheless, that’s quite a contract for a player that had never taken a college snap when he…

After years of finals droughts and a Covid-induced exile, the New Zealand Warriors are back. The team that finished 15th on the ladder last year is now just 80 minutes from playing in their third grand final. For their long-suffering fans, it must feel like the…

The internet’s ruined the live shows for me. Who wants to know what’s…

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul veteran actor Mark Margolis has died at the age of 83, according to his family. The tour promises fans “a mostly acoustic set of Who gems, rarities, solo nuggets and other surprises,” with Daltrey also answering questions from the audience. KT Tunstall and Dan Bern are special guests on the tour, which will have Daltrey backed by a “hand-picked ensemble of musicians,” including his bandmate Pete Townshend’s brother Simon Townshend on guitar and backing vocals. The tour kicks off…
The art of becoming part of hockey culture You may have noticed: Skellefteå is a place where the love for hockey, and in particular Skellefteå AIK, is great. But what’s the deal? We let columnist and culture writer Per Strömbro, potentially northern Sweden’s least sports-minded individual, infiltrate a match in search of answers. It feels a bit of a drag, I’ll admit it. It’s a Friday night in late August and almost 20 degrees Celsius outside. The instinct to go into a cool ice rink does not really want to appear. Others outside Skellefteå Kraft Arena seem all the more…
