In order to facilitate the transition of the new head coach, AC Milan is hoping to conduct some business early in the summer transfer window. They have had discussions with Emerson Royal’s representatives.
According to this morning’s article from La Gazzetta dello Sport (see below), Milan is anticipated to stick to a tried-and-true formula and sign a Premier League star who isn’t playing at his best and assist him turn his career around.
It’s been done for years because it nearly always works: among those who came from England and developed were Fikayo Tomori, Olivier Giroud, Christian Pulisic, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Emerson Royal is the next name on the list.
The representative of Emerson stepped off the plane at Casa Milan yesterday, while the four right-backs now in the squad—Davide Calabria, Alessandro Florenzi, Pierre Kalulu, and Filippo Terracciano—boarded a flight to Australia.
While other players were mentioned during the in-person meeting with the Rossoneri directors, the Emerson chapter naturally took up some of the discourse. Milan wants to reinforce its flank in the summer, and he is their top target.
His name has been on Milan’s notepad for a while now because he fits the description of the player that the three management members—Giorgio Furlani, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Geoffrey Moncada—are looking for.
To be more precise, he is still young (25 years old), but he has international experience and, most importantly, a tendency to press up on the right side, which is what Milan wants their right-back to do under new coach Paulo Fonseca.
