United States, Dallas (AFP) — Despite a fresh injury scare that has raised questions about his fitness, Kristaps Porzingis stated on Tuesday that he is determined to play for Boston against Dallas in game three of the NBA Finals.

The Latvian power forward is “day-to-day” going into game three in Dallas on Wednesday after the Celtics revealed on Tuesday that he had a “rare” injury to his left leg in game two on Sunday.

Following a month-long injury layoff, the 28-year-old has helped the Celtics take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Boston, however, said on Tuesday that Porzingis’s diagnosis for game two on Sunday was a “torn medial retinaculum allowing dislocation of the posterior tibialis tendon in his left leg.”

The Celtics have stated that no chances would be taken regarding Porzingis’ health, despite the fact that he was observed walking normally at practice on Tuesday.

Unless medical personnel instruct him otherwise, Porzingis told reporters he intends to play on Wednesday.
