The “technically gifted” player for Leeds United will miss the team’s next match against current Championship leaders Leicester City due to yet another injury, which presents a “massive problem” for the club.
Leeds trying to get promoted
Leeds, who were relegated from the Premier League the previous season, are hoping to immediately return to the top division, but they are up against one of the best chasing packs in the history of the second division.
Although Daniel Farke’s team has only lost six games this season and has the best defensive record in the league, they still have a battle to win in order to secure an automatic promotion spot come May. They now take on Leicester City, who have defeated every team they have faced this season.
Leeds, in second place, are probably looking down rather than up right now. With 13 games remaining, they are nine points behind Friday’s opponents but tied with Ipswich for third place and only two points ahead of Southampton for fourth in what is expected to be a close finish to the campaign.
A victory over Leicester would give them some breathing room, but a loss could see them miss out on automatic promotion this weekend. In that case, they would have to consider playing in the play-offs, where one of the top four teams in England’s second division will undoubtedly still be there when the new season starts.
