For Japhet Tanganga, this has been a difficult period. The move to the Bundesliga in the summer was approved for him. He hasn’t, however, appeared in Augsburg’s top division yet.

Looks like Brentford will get Sergio Reguilon on loan from Tottenham. They have also called Alfie Devine back from his stint at Port Vale in the interim. It is possible that others are asking if they could use Tanganga in a similar way.

Tanganga has shown promise in the Premier League in the past. So, some might be considering whether it would be worthwhile to have him return in order to offer more coverage while he isn’t playing in Germany.

However, McGrath asserted in an interview with the Last Word on Spurs podcast that Spurs are unlikely to move until another team agrees to take over his loan deal.

“His string of injuries has been quite unfortunate. I believe he hasn’t played much for Augsburg. I don’t believe the Spurs would genuinely be keen to have him back for that reason. Therefore, rather than him returning, a club would need to step in and take over that loan,” he stated.

The manner Tottenham is acting would suggest that Tanganga’s long-term prospects are not with the team. Even yet, he is still quite young. So he has time to forget about this spell.

If Ange Postecoglou was considering him as a potential future player, you would think he would want him to play.

The existing contract with Tanganga is scheduled to expire in 2025. And it does seem like it would be better for everyone if he could find a place to live permanently as soon as possible.
