Lewis Hamilton has strongly dismissed rumors of a rift with his new Ferrari race engineer, Riccardo Adami, following the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix. The seven-time Formula 1 world champion addressed speculation surrounding their working relationship after some curious radio messages during the race weekend sparked commentary about possible tension.
During the Monaco Grand Prix, Hamilton was heard over team radio expressing frustration at the lack of information he was receiving, particularly in regard to time gaps on the track. One moment that caught attention was Hamilton’s end-of-race question asking if Adami was “upset with me or something,” a query that did not receive a response on the world broadcast feed. This led to speculation about potential strain in their partnership.
However, ahead of the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix, Hamilton sought to put the rumors to rest, calling them “BS” and firmly stating that he and Adami have a solid working relationship. He acknowledged that while they are still learning how best to work with each other, any disagreements between them are a normal part of the driver-engineer dynamic in Formula 1.
“Our relationship is great. No problems. We’re constantly learning more and more about each other,” Hamilton said. “We’re adapting to the way both of us like to work. He’s worked with a lot of different drivers in the past, and we don’t have any problems whatsoever.”
Hamilton elaborated that disagreements during races are not uncommon and should not be viewed as signs of a fractured relationship. He described any claims to the contrary as exaggerated interpretations of routine team interactions. “Yeah, there’s a lot of speculation. Most of it is BS,” Hamilton emphasized. “Ultimately, we have a great relationship. He’s been amazing to work with. He’s a great guy and works so hard. We both are.”
The British driver explained that while they may not always get everything right during race weekends, they are united in their goal to win and bring success to Ferrari. “Do we have disagreements? Like everyone does in relationships, but we work through them. We’re both in it together. We both want to win a championship together. We’re both working towards lifting the team up.”
Hamilton also clarified that part of the confusion in Monaco stemmed from technical issues rather than miscommunication or discontent. “There were areas where we just had radio problems through the race. I didn’t get all the information I wanted, but we spoke afterwards.”
Adami, who previously worked with the likes of Sebastian Vettel, Carlos Sainz, Vitantonio Liuzzi, Sebastien Buemi, and Daniel Ricciardo, joined forces with Hamilton at Ferrari at the start of the 2025 season. Despite the recent speculation, Hamilton reiterated that their partnership is strong and focused on achieving championship success. He concluded by encouraging others to ignore the noise, as it has no bearing on the goals they are working toward together.
