Hamilton, who was neither a front-runner nor at the rear of the pack, endured a solitary and largely uneventful race, which left him feeling disconnected from the action on track.
In an interview with DAZN, Hamilton was candid about his experience, stating, “I’m glad it’s over. I was pretty much alone the whole race.” He explained that although he managed to pass a couple of cars, the race still lacked any meaningful action or strategic complexity. He admitted that the forced two-stop strategy did at least ensure teams avoided simply cruising to the end on a single set of tyres, but beyond that, there was little to celebrate. “I was in my own world. Not at the front, not at the back,” Hamilton added, highlighting how he found himself stuck in traffic and unable to make any significant progress. He was particularly puzzled by the amount of time he lost compared to other drivers and noted that this would need to be analyzed further.
The seven-time world champion remarked that the lack of incidents like a Safety Car deployment meant there was no opportunity to shake up the grid or gain a strategic advantage. “We needed a Safety Car or something today. We weren’t lucky in that sense,” he said. Hamilton also revealed that he had opted for two sets of hard tyres for the race, hoping this would give him a tactical edge—but ultimately, it didn’t translate into any competitive gain.
When asked whether the 2025 edition of the Monaco Grand Prix differed in any meaningful way from past years, Hamilton bluntly responded, “It was basically the same. Most of the time I just want it to end.” His comments reflect broader criticisms of the Monaco race, often described as outdated due to the tight street circuit’s limited overtaking opportunities and the predictable nature of the racing.
Adding to Hamilton’s visible frustration was a tense exchange with his race engineer Riccardo Adami. After the race concluded, Hamilton asked Adami over the team radio, “Are you upset with me or something?”—only to be met with silence. This moment appeared to underscore a growing sense of unease within the Ferrari garage, especially considering Hamilton’s relatively lackluster results compared to his teammate, Charles Leclerc, who has secured two podium finishes this season.
