John Swinney has pledged an additional 100,000 appointments in GP surgeries to address the issue of the “8am lottery” for booking a doctor’s appointment. The First Minister emphasized that the NHS remains central to his government’s annual agenda. Swinney also announced that peak rail fares will be permanently abolished starting September 1. He highlighted that the focus of the government’s program will be on “delivery” and offering “hope.” However, Scottish Tory leader Russell Findlay criticized the legislative plan as “flimsy,” while Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar questioned whether that was all.
