Daniel Jones’ outburst on the pitch against the Pittsburgh Steelers summed up the New York Giants’ ongoing frustration.
The Giants’ offence messed up a two-point convert late in the Monday Night Football game, demonstrating Brian Daboll’s team’s lack of urgency.
After their first touchdown in twenty-four drives, New York was right on the verge of the end zone. John Leglue tackled wide receiver Malik Nabers before he could collect the pigskin after Jones tossed the ball to him.
Jones lost his temper on the pitch after the unsuccessful conversion, throwing his arms angrily and screaming towards his sideline before tearing off his helmet.
After the error prevented them from cutting an eight-point disadvantage with eleven minutes remaining, Daboll was also spotted yelling his cries.
The Giants suffered their third consecutive defeat in their 2–6 season as the game concluded with a score of 26–18, maintaining the same deficit.
Jones gained 264 yards and an interception on 24 of his 38 attempts. Tyrone Tracy Jr. raced for New York’s only touchdown, and kicker Greg Joseph would score 12 of the team’s points.
With 34 seconds remaining, Beanie Bishop Jr. intercepted Jones, ending the game just as the Giants looked to be within striking distance of a comeback.
Jones now has the lowest victory % of any quarterback in nationally televised games since 1970 after the loss, going 1-15 in primetime games.
Russell Wilson led Pittsburgh to win by completing 20 of 28 passes for 278 yards and a touchdown while Jones’ troubles persisted. Moreover, Bishop and Calvin Austin III would be in charge of touchdowns.
After making all four of his field goal tries, kicker Chris Boswell added 14 points as well.
With the victory, Pittsburgh’s record now stands at 6-2 as they prepare to play the Commanders on November 10.
Prior to playing the Steelers, Washington will also play the Giants on November 3.
