A legendary member of Chelsea Football Club has made a shocking charge against the current Blues team. The former defender of the west London squad occasionally criticised his ostensibly “amateur” defensive and incompetent team as a whole, which CFC manager Enzo Maresca will not enjoy.
Furthermore, the vocal former player doesn’t think CFC will truly achieve their season goal of placing among the top four in the Premier League.
The well-meaning Chelsea supporters may have a sad season if the 47-year-old is proven to be right. Champions League qualification through the top level does seem within the Blues’ grasp, though, assuming the statement doesn’t come to pass and the Stamford Bridge team plays to their combined strengths under a manager who seems intelligent and motivated. Come June, we will undoubtedly find out.
After defeating Newcastle United at the Bridge, Chelsea resumes their winning ways.
There was plenty to be happy about for Chels’ fans as they delighted the Magpies on Fulham Road. In fact, I think it’s getting more and more entertaining to watch Maresca’s men these days.
Ironically, the Italian received criticism for Leicester City’s consistent style of play as the team easily won the Championship in 2023–2024. However, every faithful group has its highly critical members that pick fault with everything. To be fair, I guess that’s what we do at The Pride of London!
In any case, Cole Palmer was brilliant at moments as he got back into his groove and scored another goal to round off a strong season. Nicolas Jackson, a steadily improving striker, opened the scoring; Alexander Isak, Newcastle’s own lethal goal scorer, levelled.
However, as I already stated, CFC has once again demonstrated that they are a formidable force. Will they eventually achieve success at home or possibly in Europe as a result? And will they be able to make it to the UCL? Let’s listen to William Gallas’s thoughts on the subject.

Gallas and Chels won the Premier League twice. Therefore, one could argue that he needs to be heard. Even if his views are hard to read, that is. And some people won’t find it simple to read this time.
The Frenchman didn’t like what he saw from Chelsea vs Liverpool. And he wasn’t the only one to have seen it that way. This is what he said:
“Chelsea won’t finish in the top four. The defence is simply not good enough. The second goal that Chelsea conceded at Anfield, I’m sorry to say it, it was like watching an amateur team with amateur players. That defensive line was completely amateur.”
