Moriarty is gravely hurt.
Ross Moriarty, a Wales international in exile, sustained a major injury on Friday night in France amid alarming scenes.
With worried teammates watching, Moriarty looked in pain as the game was stopped and medical personnel hurried onto the field to treat him. After several players fell on Moriarty’s twisted leg during the breakdown, it is believed that he sustained a serious ankle injury that will certainly ruin his season.
Although there have been allegations of a fractured ankle or leg, the game was halted for a number of minutes, and his team, Brive, is awaiting scan results to assess the seriousness.
After his team barely defeated Dax 15–13 to take second place in the league standings, the back rower was taken off the pitch on a stretcher.
Scarlets triumph once more.
In Llanelli, the Scarlets defeated Zebre 30–8 to win for the third consecutive time.
The Welsh team recovered after Ben Cambriani’s early goal for the Italians to earn the bonus point thanks to tries from Tom Rogers, Macs Page, Blair Murray, and captain Josh Macleod.
Ioan Lloyd’s penalty gave Scarlets the lead early on. However, Cambriani’s try from Giovanni Montemauri’s incredible punt and Geronimo Prisciantelli’s drop goal gave Zebre a strong comeback to take an 8–6 lead.
The gap was cut to two points by Lloyd’s second penalty, and Scarlets took the lead again when Rogers scored in the corner after a deft move, giving them an 11–8 halftime lead.
Scarlets took a lead thanks to two tries in the first six minutes of the second half. Page first broke through the Zebre defence and left them in his path, then Lloyd added the extras.
After a fantastic team move, Murray went over shortly after, and Macleod over for a close-range fourth try after a maul after persistent Scarlets pressure. Lloyd converted the latter.
Zebre, who haven’t won in the competition away from home since January 2021, almost ever made an attempt to increase their total.
In addition to winning 17 of their last 18 games against Zebre, Scarlets easily won the game to record their third consecutive victory in the URC for the first time since February 2023.
