Braves Rumored to Be Interested in…..

The Atlanta Braves are looking to upgrade their shortstop position after Orlando Arcia’s underwhelming performance in 2024. Arcia hit just .218 with a .625 OPS in 551 at-bats, making him a liability at the plate ¹. Despite being under contract for another season and having a club option for 2026, the Braves are exploring external options to bolster their lineup.

 

Two potential solutions have emerged: Willy Adames and Bo Bichette. Adames, a free agent, is coming off a career-high 32 home runs and 112 RBIs with the Milwaukee Brewers ¹. His impressive performance with runners in scoring position, batting .293 with a 1.072 OPS, makes him an attractive target ¹ ². However, signing Adames would require a significant investment, with his market value projected at six years, $152 million . 

MLB analyst Rymer predicts Bo Bichette of the Toronto Blue Jays is the most likely player to be traded this offseason, with the Atlanta Braves being a potential suitor. This follows USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reporting that the Blue Jays are open to trading Bichette, who plans to test free agency after 2025. Despite a disappointing 2024 season (.225 AVG, .598 OPS, 81 games), Bichette’s past performance (.290 AVG, .798 OPS, 93 HRs) makes him an attractive “buy-low” option. Rymer and former Braves player Jeff Francoeur consider Bichette an elite shortstop who could bolster the Braves’ lineup. A trade would be significant, given Bichette’s career numbers, but his down season may make him more accessible.
