In 2024, the Los Angeles Dodgers were the league’s greatest club, and it wasn’t even close. The fact that the rest of the league was in poor health was the worst aspect of this.
Shohei Ohtani was given a $700 million contract because of his hitting and pitching prowess. They only witnessed half of Ohtani’s value because he was unable to pitch in 2024 due to Tommy John surgery in 2023. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Clayton Kershaw, Tyler Glasnow, and many other celebrities also missed time.
The Dodgers’ greatest improvement this offseason would be to become healthy. They would become one of the greatest baseball teams in history if they went above and beyond that.
Instead of settling for a healthy return, the Dodgers would rather go after history. The Dodgers are reportedly among the teams closest to free agent pitcher Blake Snell, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
Snell may be the finest pitcher in baseball when he’s on, but he’s generally considered the second-best free agent pitcher.
Blake Snell doesn’t waste time. According to people familiar with the talks, the free-agent left-hander recently met with the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers,” Rosenthal said.
Keep in mind that Snell is hitting free agency after spending 2023 with the Dodgers’ two main opponents, the San Diego Padres, and 2024 with the San Francisco Giants.
The rest of the league will have nightmares after Snell joins the Dodgers. No team in the league today would lose a seven-game series against a rotation of Ohtani, Snell, Yamamoto, and Glasnow.
