You might have missed it, but Jake Paul defeated Mike Tyson via unanimous decision on Friday night.
Streaming problems plagued the much-anticipated Netflix bout all night, but for those who watched, Paul easily defeated the 58-year-old Tyson and won his 11th professional fight.
Paul established his rhythm and landed a staggering 78 of his 278 thrown punches to just 18 of Tyson’s 97 attempts, even though Tyson was able to win the first two rounds.
Despite this, the AT&T Stadium audience jeered during the latter rounds, and neither fighter did much as the two-minute rounds came to an end.
Even though the bout might not have been that close, the judges gave Paul scores of 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73.
The Tyson-Paul fight was not an easy one
Many viewers had trouble seeing the fight because of Netflix streaming problems, but many more had trouble watching it at all.
Some people, notably Magic Johnson, couldn’t stand watching the 58-year-old Tyson struggle to keep his legs under him during the battle.
“Just depressing, smh. “I stopped watching because I was unable to continue,” the Lakers icon posted on X. “I attended every Mike Tyson fight, so it’s awful to see him in this state.
Is Tyson willing to take on another Paul’s brother?
Even though Mike Tyson is no longer seeing Jake Paul, he nevertheless made a very unofficial challenge to Logan Paul in his post-fight interview.
Standing by his triumphant brother, the older Paul sibling didn’t hold back when speaking.
Cocking an eyebrow, Logan replied, “F–k, I’ll kill you, Mike.”
After Jake Paul’s fight exposes his glove habit, Mike Tyson makes fun of his “biting fixation.”
At least Mike Tyson retained his sense of humour despite his defeat.
Ring reporter Ariel Helwani questioned Tyson about his habit of chewing his boxing glove after his unanimous decision loss against Jake Paul on Friday night. This behaviour attracted the attention of many viewers of the eagerly awaited fight on Netflix.
He admitted, “Yes, I have a habit of biting my glove.” “I’m obsessed with biting.”
The post-fight jab caused some uneasy laughter because it was a direct allusion to Tyson’s 1997 rematch with Evander Holyfield, which ended strangely when Tyson bit off a piece of Holyfield’s ear.
ARLINGTON, Texas — Before the fight, Mike Tyson was interviewed on the Netflix live broadcast, exposing his buttocks.
It makes sense because he later embarrassed himself by entering the ring.
In 2005, Tyson was washed up.
He’s basically making a fool of himself in 2024.
Father time is real.
At age 58, boxing ability starts to decline.
Who would have guessed?
Tyson seemed to win the first two rounds, but after that, it was all Paul, who dominated to victory, with the final few frames drawing jeers from the crowd as neither boxer seemed to want to do much.
It’s over, and it ended with fans booing the lack of action. However, it would be shocking if Jake Paul did not win.
Anyone who was surprised by the outcome—Paul winning a unanimous decision over Tyson—was probably unable to watch the fight because of the numerous problems with the Netflix stream.
