As the team prepares to go to Papua New Guinea for the second round of Group A matches, Rob Sherman, head coach of the Fiji National Men’s Football team, has announced his squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026 Oceania Qualifiers, with a few notable alterations.
Labasa players Christopher Wasasala and Simione Tamanisau, who have earned berths in the starting lineup, are among the 23-member team.
But Samu Kautoga of Rewa is sidelined with an ankle ailment, and Epeli Leiroti was also left off the roster after suffering an injury during the most recent IDC competition.
Another noteworthy omission is Isikeli Sevanaia, the goalie for Rewa.
On Sunday, the Bula Boys will leave for Papua New Guinea, where they will play Papua New Guinea on Thursday of next week. Three days later, they will play New Caledonia.
Antonio Tuivuna, Mosese Nabose, Scott Wara, Simione Tamanisau, Christopher Wasasala, and Mohammad Raheem—all of whom missed the first round of games in Suva—are rejoining the team.
Joela Biuvanua, Josh Qereqeretabua of Charlton Athletic, Kavaia Rawaqa, Aprosa Yada, and Etonio Dogalau of Ba have all been removed from the team for this round.
