After being flown out to view the Northern Lights in Iceland by Specsavers, a Suffolk woman who went viral after mistaking them for a tomato factory has expressed her gratitude.
On October 23, Ipswich resident Dee Harrison shared a picture on social media that she believed to be the Northern Lights.
Unfortunately for her, it turned out to be a tomato factory between Bramford and Great Blakenham rather than the Northern Lights.

“Specsavers commented on my post and asked if I would like to travel to Iceland to see the real lights,” she said. When I asked if this was a joke, they said that it wasn’t.
The major retailer then paid for a weekend flight to Iceland for Mrs. Harrison and her husband, giving them a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
They occasionally had to contend with the weather while in the country, as they encountered wind and rain.
Mrs. Harrison was advised by a guide that the conditions needed to be ideal, which made her feel that things were “not looking good.”
They were able to witness the display, though, when the skies cleared.
Mrs. Harrison was contacted by Specsavers, who then flew her to Iceland.

“I never would have imagined doing that.” I am incredibly appreciative of Specsavers for providing me with this chance.
“We all know that our sight and hearing can play tricks on us sometimes, and Specsavers has always celebrated those relatable moments that remind us that we’re all human,” a Specsavers spokeswoman stated.
“We couldn’t help but offer to make Dee’s unhappiness into an amazing event after learning about her aurora mix-up.
“Of course, We were thrilled to be able to take her to Iceland to see the true Northern Lights, even though the glow of a tomato factory made for an amazing picture.
“It’s a great reminder that even a small accident can result in lifelong memories.”
