Homan, the former acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), has been tapped by President-elect Trump to lead efforts on mass deportations, a key promise from Trump’s campaign. In a statement posted to his Truth Social account late Sunday, Trump shared his pleasure in naming Homan to the position, calling him a “stalwart on Border Control” and stating Homan will be responsible for overseeing border security, deportations of illegal immigrants, as well as maritime and aviation security.
“I’ve known Tom for a long time, and there is nobody better at policing and controlling our Borders,” Trump said. “Congratulations to Tom. I have no doubt he will do a fantastic, long-awaited job.” Homan has not yet commented publicly on the announcement.
