The Cowboys had hopes of winning the Super Bowl going into the 2024 season, but after nine weeks, McCarthy and company haven’t quite had the expected outcome. Although pass rushers Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence have been sidelined since Week 4, Dallas has been battling with a lot of injuries, particularly on the defensive end of the ball. Daron Bland, an All-Pro cornerback, has missed the entire season and is getting close to making a comeback. Dallas, however, ought to still have enough firepower to keep these games closer than they have been.
During his tenure with the Cowboys, Bryant has experienced the pain of failure. Under head coach Jason Garrett’s direction, the former All-Pro receiver saw his teams continuously fall short of their potential between 2010 and 2017. McCarthy’s team this season is remarkably similar to this pattern of underperformance, pointing to a concerning tendency within the company. Bryant’s hope for McCarthy to leave Dallas may come true if the city doesn’t start improving quickly.
