Shane Beamer emphasises the value of being well-prepared for bye week.
As Week 10 approaches, South Carolina is coming off its bye week. Shane Beamer is aware of how critical it is for his team to perform as well following a week off after defeating Oklahoma 35-9 on the road last time out.
The Gamecocks’ head coach outlined the steps they will need to take throughout the week to defeat No. 10 Texas A&M at home, as well as the significance of overcoming the rust that comes with taking a week off.
“Being aware of what you do on the practice pitch, in the meeting room and on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday throughout the week,” Beamer stated.
You can play well on Saturday if you prepare with the appropriate attitude and mindset. It does not ensure that you will perform well.
We have discussed it with our players because our performance in Oklahoma was a direct result of our preparation during the week. After putting everything together, we went and performed admirably, and this week will be no different.
The same thing will occur this week as well. Yes, your practice this week has been excellent. That gives you the chance to compete and, ideally, perform at your peak.
After that, you have to coach and play well when you get into that arena on Saturday night. The previous time we played Ole Miss, we didn’t perform well enough on either of those. It had to be improved. Our guys are thrilled to be home again.
There are five games left in South Carolina’s regular season schedule. Shane Beamer’s Gamecocks have difficult games against Vanderbilt on the road and No. 25 Missouri at home after attempting to pull off a season-defining victory against Texas A&M, the final team unbeaten in SEC play.
Before travelling to Clemson to play the Tigers in the regular season finale, they will have a break against Wofford on November 23.
Nevertheless, Beamer’s team needs to stay hot after their bye week against the Aggies because they are only two victories away from bowl eligibility and have a lot of difficult games left.
Gamecocks vs. Aggies kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on ABC.
