What caused Kelvin Kiptum’s death?

On February 11, Kiptum lost his life in a vehicle accident in western Kenya. According to NBC Chicago, both he and his coach passed away at the site. Kenneth Kimaiyo, Kiptum’s buddy, informed the source that Kiptum was flung from the vehicle as a result of the collision. According to pictures taken at the scene, the car was also seriously damaged.
