WHAT OCCURRED
In recent Premier Soccer League games, Relebohile Mofokeng, a young player for the Orlando Pirates, has been unfairly challenged.
Pogiso Sanoka caught the winger right above the ankle during the match against SuperSport United, but he was not sent off despite the hazardous tackle.
Boniface Haba nearly sent Mofokeng to the stands during the game against AmaZulu with yet another illegal challenge. Victor Hlungwani, a former FIFA referee, was not impressed by what he witnessed.
WHAT HLUNGWANI SAID
Sanoka of SuperSport received a yellow card, but what do you think of that? The boss of Safa Gauteng Referees said.
That tackle is above the ankle and it puts an opponent’s safety in jeopardy. Sanoka should’ve been sent off for serious foul play.
Haba’s first tackle in the AmaZulu game was reckless; it indicates that he disregarded the possibility of his opponent suffering repercussions.
Playing carelessly should have resulted in a yellow card. Now, Mofokeng is the victim of significant foul play by the same Haba.
Due to serious foul play, this player ought to have been sent off. He is a very excellent player, which is why they are ruining these lads.
The officials have an obligation to defend all talented athletes, and they are tackling him.
