She is the only female competitor to run under 55 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles and over 6700 points in the heptathlon.
American heptathlete Anna Hall has talked about the severe injury that nearly prevented her from competing in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Hall was unable to carry on the momentum from her previous season after suffering a knee injury during training in January of this year and undergoing surgery.
Even though she had started to recuperate by February with the hope that she would still be able to win gold in Paris, the following five months were not always easy.
“Emotionally and physically, it was really painful,” Hall remarked, as reported by World Athletics. At practice, I experienced pain on several days when I tried things I didn’t want to do, but the physicians told me, ‘If you want to push, this is what we’re doing.” That is really, really humble on an emotional level.
“I couldn’t do a single-leg hop the first few days when I tried to high jump again, and I was like, how am I supposed to jump 1.85m in six weeks?” the Colorado native continued.
It was undoubtedly the most difficult thing I have ever done. The 23-year-old holds the pentathlon indoor record for North America.
