Andoni Iraola, the head coach of Bournemouth, took responsibility for a substitution he made against Aston Villa.
The Spaniard acknowledged after the match that he was at fault for having to replace Julian Araujo during the first half against the Midlands team.
When Iraola substituted Adam Smith for Araujo in the first half, he said it was the first time in his career that he had made a change.
Iraola told reporters, “It is the first time in my career that I do one sub in the first half.”
However, since I put Julian in what was likely the most challenging game for a right back in the Premier League, I must take responsibility.
Villa’s left-wing style of play makes excellent use of the available space with a variety of players.
“I felt compelled to give Araujo the yellow card, but I place more of the blame on myself than Julian.”
