Gavin Hunt, the head of SuperSport United, has already faced the big three and has provided his opinion on whether the Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, two teams from Soweto, have what it takes to unseat Mamelodi Sundowns from the top spot.
Matsatsantsa lost 2-0 to Pirates at Orlando Stadium in a Betway Premiership match on Wednesday, marking their fourth straight loss in all competitions. Prior to that match, they had already lost 3-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns in the season’s debut.
During the press conference at Esgodini after the game, Hunt was asked about the Big three. He responded, “I can’t say I’d love to answer your question.”
“Everyone has made their squads stronger. It appears that they can all play off one another.
“I think there is a gap, certainly with Pirates, keeping the same squad and strengthening the same squad. There is no doubt.
“Obviously, when they (Pirates) go to Africa (they will affect them) so lets see. Obviously, the fixtures have been moved around a lot, so lets see. This was a January fixture, now it has come up today.
“But it’s not for me to say (who can unseat Sundowns), i’m sorry” Meanwhile, SuperSport have fallen down to 13th on the table having recorded only one win from five outings.
