Celtic now sits 20th in the new Champions League format after a surprising 0-0 draw with Atalanta in Bergamo.
Following an unexpected 0-0 draw with Atalanta in Bergamo, Celtic is currently ranked 20th in the new Champions League system.
Celtic will go to the Champions League play-off round and have an opportunity to participate in the Last 16 if they defeat RB Leipzig, Club Brugge, Dinamo Zagreb, BSC Young Boys, or Aston Villa in two more of their next five games.
Interestingly, €700,000 was added to the €25+ million Celtic had already earned from ticket sales before the start of this season’s Champions League campaign. Even if the two other Scottish clubs won this week in Europe, the Hoops earned €300,000 more than Hearts and €250,000 more than the Rangers despite a stalemate.
In one outstanding Scottish week without a loss, the Rangers’ 4-0 victory against Romanian team FSCB and Hearts’ stunning victory over Cypriot team Omonia Nicosia have raised Scotland’s point total from 3.4 to 4.4.
It’s interesting to note that Scottish clubs recorded three clean sheets in a group format for the first time on matchday three of the European calendar.
