In his Chicago Bulls debut, Josh Giddey has received harsh criticism from rival supporters. The Australian player is still in shock over the off-court incident from the previous season.
In his thirty minutes on the floor, Giddey concluded with fourteen points, five rebounds, and three assists, but the crowd’s response was the main topic of conversation.
Giddey was accused of having an inappropriate interaction with a minor last year, but the Melbourne product was exonerated by the NBA and never charged.
Giddey told reporters after the game that he was surprised by the response.
“I’m surprised it’s still gone on the way it was tonight,” he replied.
My teammates will discuss it with me as well because it confused them.
“This one was obviously quite loud; I could plainly hear every touch. I can’t do much about it; it is what it is. Now I’m used to it.
“I’ve just got to continue to play and do what I can out there.”
Brandon Ingram stepped up and helped New Orleans win by 12 points despite the absence of star player Zion Williamson.
On Saturday (AEST), Giddey and the Bulls will play the Milwaukee Bucks.
