After Jets Firing BY THAD BROWN ATHLON SPORTS UPDATED OCTOBER 23, 2024 2:36 PM Just weeks after being dismissed as the head coach of the New York Jets, Robert Saleh may have found a new role with a familiar face. The former Jets coach has reportedly been seen assisting the Green Bay Packers and head coach Matt LaFleur, his long-time friend. Although it’s unclear whether Saleh has been officially hired by the Packers, LaFleur is expected to address the situation during a press conference after Wednesday’s practice. Saleh’s firing from the Jets on Oct. 8, came as a surprise to many, especially after the team had strong defensive showings under his leadership. He was dismissed following a 2-3 start to the season, with Jets owner Woody Johnson citing unmet expectations. Saleh, who had been with the Jets since 2021, was replaced by defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich as interim head coach. The Jets have since lost their first game under Ulbrich, falling 37-15 to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Recently fired Jets coach Robert Saleh is at Packers practice. Long history between him and Matt LaFleur. Also has worked with Jeff Hafley.
