- Inter Miami’s participation in the event was confirmed by FIFA President Gianni Infantino on Saturday night. Given Messi’s immense global popularity and the tournament’s prior arrangements for several matches in South Florida, this announcement was widely anticipated.
Every four years, 32 teams from each of Fifa’s six soccer confederations compete in the event. The tournament’s first match is set on June 15, 2025, at Miami Gardens’ Hard Rock Stadium. Inter Miami will compete.
As the host club representing the United States in the new Fifa Club World Cup 2025, as one of the best clubs in the world, you deserve to be participants,” Infantino declared during an on-field ceremony following Inter Miami’s breaking of Major League Soccer’s record for most points in a regular season.
The competition runs through July 13th, and the championship game is set to take place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, which will also host the 2026 World Cup final. There is currently no media rights agreement in place, and the Club World Cup has not attracted any significant US sponsors.
The Club World Cup will also be held in Atlanta, Cincinnati, Nashville, Charlotte, Orlando, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Washington, and Seattle in the United States. The Club World Cup will include twelve European teams. They are Real Madrid, Salzburg, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Juventus, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Porto, Borussia Dortmund, and Paris Saint-Germain.
Other teams that have qualified are the following: North America’s Leon, Monterrey, Pachuca, and the Seattle Sounders; Africa’s Al Ahly, Esperance, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Wydad; Asia’s Al-Hilal, Al Ain, Ulsan, and Urawa; Oceania’s Auckland City; and South America’s Boca Juniors, Flamengo, Fluminense, Palmeiras, and River Plate.
Inter Miami enters the field as the thirty-first team. The Conmebol Libertadores final in Buenos Aires on November 30 will determine the final. December marks the draw for the competition.
